Alice & Ewan’s wedding at the Lancaster Ashton Memorial was hands down one of our favourites of 2025. As a couple offering Wedding photograph & Videography in Lancaster, we’ve worked with countless couples and captured so many stunning venues – but these two really stayed with us. They wanted a colourful, fun, and candid Lancaster wedding day, and they absolutely delivered! From the moment we arrived, we clicked, and we laughed our way through the whole day.

Williamson Park had been on our list of wedding venues to photograph for a long time, so when Alice and Ewan got in touch looking for Ashton Memorial Wedding Photography & Videography, we were buzzing at the idea of finally visiting. With the quirky charm of their Lancaster Brewery, Tap and Still wedding reception too, it was the perfect fit for our candid Lancaster wedding photography & videography style.

When it comes to photographing and filming a wedding, We split duties during the morning. Soph spends time with one wedding party while Matt is with the other, capturing both photo and film simultaneously. It’s a great way for us to bond with you and your friends and family, keeping everything relaxed and natural without overcrowding your wedding morning with too many cameras.

Alice chose to get ready at her childhood home, surrounded by her mum, dad, brother, and of course her beautiful bridesmaids. Being greeted by Alice in her PJs and veil, shaking it around like a tail feather was an instant sign that the day was going to be absolutely hilarious!

Ewan spent the morning getting ready at home with his dad and best man, Ben… then headed off for a stroll through Williamson Park up to Ashton Memorial. Alice did things a little differently, arriving in a white Bentley instead… pretty swish if you ask us.

One of the standout moments of the ceremony was how they chose to seat their guests in a circle around the aisle. It was such a lovely and unique touch—something we hadn’t seen before. We couldn’t resist grabbing a wide shot from the top of the steps to showcase it properly in their wedding film.

As the ceremony began, Alice made her way down the aisle surrounded by the gorgeous floral arrangements by Flower B Florist With her dad on her arm trying his best to hold back tears, the moment was both emotional and full of laughter—perfectly them.

After exchanging vows, rings, and two beautiful readings by Izzy & Becca, it was time for the first kiss. Cheers and applause erupted from their nearest and dearest as the two of them giggled together—finally, husband and wife!

One of our favourite moments at weddings is definitely the confetti! There’s a saying in the wedding photography world: you can never have too much confetti. We always encourage our couples to go big and choose large round confetti – we recommend proper confetti– yes, it’s biodegradable) – the colourful kind that looks incredible on camera. Alice & Ewan took our advice and bought it by the bucket load. As they made their way down the iconic Ashton Memorial steps, they were totally showered in colour!

With the April rain picking up slightly, we quickly gathered the whole crew for a group photo before heading back inside for fizz, canapés, and a few family photos. We also grabbed a couple of quick couple photos while the atmosphere was still buzzing.

Ah, the drinks reception, Where we as candid photographers & videographers thrive… everyone lets their hair down and the real moments happen. Friends and family are off their best behaviour and the hugs are non-stop. There’s nothing quite like that excited squeeze from your friends, who can’t wait to congratulate you!

” Their warm, down-to-earth presence and rapport with our guests created a joyful, relaxed atmosphere, and it’s reflected in each minute of our video and each corner of our photographs”

As the drinks reception wrapped up, everyone headed over to the Tap and Still at Lancaster Brewery. Guests settled in with a few pints, and the newlyweds were welcomed in to take their seats for the speeches. It’s always such a fun vibe when everyone’s relaxed and ready to celebrate properly!

The speeches were an absolute highlight. Alice’s dad Bernie kicked things off and did his best to hold back the tears, then her brother and Man of honour, Martin, followed with a speech that genuinely brought the house down—so heartfelt and full of love for his baby sister. Next up was Ewan’s best man, Ben, who absolutely smashed it with all the classic funny moments from them growing up together. Ewan then said a few words about how much he loved everyone, but the best was saved till last…

Alice had written a speech too – and get this, she actually finalised it on the morning of the wedding. She was even in the middle of printing it out when Soph arrived! 😂

She talked about how incredible it felt to have all her family and friends in one room celebrating her and Ewan, and she thanked everyone who gave a toast. But then she dropped the surprise… a few weeks earlier, she’d secretly got a tattoo of the smiley face Ewan uses to sign cards with. She’d been hiding it for weeks by wearing long socks around the house. Considering Ewan is a detective, she was amazed he hadn’t figured it out! The whole room, including the staff at Lancaster Brewery weddings, was in stitches!

Their first dance kicked off the evening in style, and honestly, the song choice was a corker! “The Whole of the Moon” by The Waterboys is one of our favourite tunes – fun fact: back when we were an acoustic wedding band, we covered it at every wedding. So hearing it as Alice & Ewan’s first dance felt like a full-circle moment… and it really did solidify how much we love these two!

Then, about three-quarters of the way through, they called their family and friends up to join them – Such a brilliant idea. Not only did it include everyone, but it also kept the dance floor packed for a few more tunes while we ran around photographing and filming everyone busting a move to DJ Karlton‘s dance floor bangers!

All in all, Alice & Ewan’s Ashton Memorial wedding was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we love what we do. Just one big celebration of love, friendship, and fun.

Thanks for having us as your Lancaster Wedding Photographers, Alice & Ewan – we’ll never forget it!
