Caroline + Josh
If you’re planning an autumn wedding in Yorkshire and wondering whether wind, sparklers and a very good playlist can all work together — Caroline and Josh are living proof that they absolutely can.
Their wedding at Bunny Hill in Beverley, East Yorkshire was relaxed, personal and full of laughter from start to finish. The kind of day that feels less like a rigid timeline and more like a really good party that just happened to include a wedding ceremony. Autumn had well and truly arrived, bringing crisp air, big skies and a breeze that made it very clear we were in Yorkshire — but Caroline and Josh embraced it completely.
Bunny Hill is one of those venues that just works. Set in the East Yorkshire countryside, it’s modern, spacious and surrounded by open views that make you want to head outside with a camera, whatever the weather. And yes, it was windy — but rather than dampening the mood, it added to the atmosphere. Dresses moved, hair had opinions, and everyone laughed it off. Some of our favourite portraits from the day came from stepping outside into that blustery autumn air, proving that you don’t need sunshine for beautiful wedding photos — just a couple who are happy to roll with it.
The florals by Ivy Lane Florist were the perfect match for the season and the venue. Soft autumn tones, natural textures and arrangements that felt elegant without being overdone. They brought warmth into the spaces and tied everything together beautifully, photographing like an absolute dream while still feeling relaxed and effortless. Florals that understand the brief without shouting about it — always a win.
“We are beyond happy with our wedding photos, and would definitely recommend Soph & Matt to anyone! Thank you again guys – we now have amazing memories to last a lifetime!”
Music played a huge role throughout the day, and Steven Heath Music was there for almost all of it. From the ceremony through the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and into the evening, Steven created a soundtrack that felt completely personal to Caroline and Josh. Guests could request songs via an app — a brave but brilliant move — which led to surprise singalongs, unexpected classics and a lot of smiling faces well before dessert appeared. It kept the energy flowing all day and made every part of the celebration feel connected.
Later on, Pat Mulligan took over DJ duties and made sure the dancefloor stayed full for the rest of the night. Any remaining inhibitions were left firmly at the door, and from that point on it was all about dancing, laughter and making the most of every moment.
We had the absolute pleasure of capturing Caroline and Josh’s day on both wedding photography and film, and it was a joy from beginning to end. They were relaxed, present and completely focused on enjoying their day and the people around them, which always makes for the best storytelling. Even with the wind doing its thing, we snuck outside whenever we could to make the most of that autumn light.
As the evening drew in, guests gathered outside for sparklers, lighting up the night and bringing the day to a perfect close. There’s something about that cool countryside air, glowing lights and end-of-day happiness that feels quietly magical — the moment when everything slows just enough for it all to sink in.
Caroline and Josh’s wedding was warm, funny and completely them. Full of genuine laughter, incredible live music and an atmosphere that felt easy, joyful and real. Thank you both for having us tell your story — wind, sparklers, song requests and all. 🍂✨
