Abbie & Joe
From the moment we arrived, it felt like one of those days where everything just fits. Foxtail Barns has that rare balance of feeling polished but never stiff – a place where you can let a wedding breathe. Surrounded by woodland, gardens and winding paths, it’s a dream setting for natural, story-led photography, and as Foxtail Barns wedding photographers, it’s a venue we’re always excited to return to.
The day began quietly, tucked away in the trees. Joe and the boys were getting ready in one of the woodland cabins, and the atmosphere was pure camaraderie — relaxed, jokey, and full of that low-level buzz that builds as the reality of the day starts to sink in. There’s something special about these moments: ties being half-tied, jackets draped over chairs, laughter echoing through wooden walls. One of our favourite little details came out here too — Joe’s custom underpants, proudly declaring “I ❤️ my wife”, with Abbie’s beaming face inside the heart. It was funny, sentimental, and completely them — the kind of detail that tells you everything you need to know about a couple.
And Abbie was preparing nearby, calm and glowing, surrounded by people who clearly adore her. From early on, it was obvious that this wasn’t just a wedding about two people — it was about families coming together. That thread ran through the entire day.

Foxtail Barns looked incredible as guests arrived, the late-summer light filtering through the trees and bouncing off the pale walls of the barns. The ceremony itself was heartfelt without being heavy, emotional without being overdone. Abbie & Joe have that kind of love that doesn’t need to shout — it’s in the glances, the gentle touches, the way they naturally gravitate towards each other. And then there was Archer.
Their son Archer was woven into the day so beautifully that it never once felt staged. He wandered, observed, cuddled, laughed — occasionally stealing the show entirely. Some of our favourite Foxtail Barns wedding photos from the day include these in-between moments with him, especially as his cute little tux lasted all of 5 minutes!

After the ceremony, we spilled out into the grounds for drinks, congratulations and photographs. One of the things we love most about being wedding photographers in Stoke is having access to venues like this — places that give you room to move, to explore, and to find little pockets of quiet. Emily whisked Abbie & Joe off on the buggy into the gardens, canapés saved for the journey, and we made the most of the space and light. Even having worked at Foxtail Barns many times now, we’re still discovering new corners of the grounds — shaded woodland paths, open lawns, tucked-away backdrops that feel almost cinematic.
“We are beyond happy with our wedding photos, and would definitely recommend Soph & Matt to anyone! Thank you again guys – we now have amazing memories to last a lifetime!”
As The Taylors Film & Photo, we usually work as both photography and videography, so this being a photo-only wedding felt like a rare treat. There’s something incredibly freeing about focusing on a single medium — being able to slow down, think more deliberately about framing, composition, and timing. It gave us space to really lean into our approach: fun, romantic, unposed wedding photography that prioritises feeling over perfection.

The wedding breakfast rolled around with full hearts and full glasses, and then came the speeches — a part of the day that truly stopped us in our tracks. Rob, Abbie’s dad, delivered a speech that was equal parts pride, humour and emotion. There were tears (ours included), followed swiftly by laughter, and that sense of collective warmth you only get when a room is filled with people who genuinely care. Joe and the others followed suit, keeping things light and heartfelt, striking that perfect balance that left everyone smiling.

As the afternoon drifted into evening, the energy shifted. Guests gathered by the pool for photos, the light softened, and the day began to loosen its tie. Later, as dusk settled over Foxtail Barns, Abbie & Joe stepped outside for a sparkler line — one of those moments that never fails to deliver. The glow, the movement, the laughter, and the pure chaos of people trying to light sparklers in the dark always leads to something special, and this was no exception. Some of our favourite Foxtail Barns wedding photos came from right here — joyful, imperfect, alive.
