As York wedding videographers, we get to capture some of the most emotional and beautiful moments, but Gemma and Sam's September wedding at Bunny Hill in York was a whole different level of magic. From start to finish, it was a day full of heartfelt moments, epic dance moves, and a few tears (mostly ours, to be honest).
One of the most memorable moments for us was the Dad reveal—there’s always something so special about that moment, but this one really hit us. Gemma and her dad shared a moment that was as sweet as it was emotional, and we were trying our best to keep the camera steady while wiping away a few tears ourselves. Don’t worry, though, we’re professionals. Kind of.
And then, Gemma. Oh, Gemma. When she looked around at her family and friends with that look of joy, accompanied by a victorious fist pump, we knew we’d stumbled upon a pretty cool girl… and she spent the rest of the day proving us right!
The music throughout the day really added to the vibe. The saxophonist during the drinks reception gave us all the smooth vibes we didn’t know we needed, and then the DJ and sax combo in the evening cranked it up to 11. We’ve never seen so many people on a dance floor simultaneously trying to outdo each other in sheer enthusiasm. Not a single dad-dance was spared but they were all out done by Gemma’s mum performing what can only be described as a sexual tiger dance towards Matt’s lens just when we needed it, Check out the end of the highlight video for proof! ;)
But, of course, the big emotional punch came when Sam finally heard the words "I do." You could see the joy wash over him — It was like watching someone win the lottery… We’ve never seen a man look so happy to hear two little words.
But it wasn’t just the grown-ups who had us eating out of their hand. Isla, their sweet daughter, gave a speech with a little help from her Auntie that had us all wiping away tears (again, we’re professionals, we swear). Isla’s words about how happy she was for her mum and Sam were so touching—and honestly, so much more eloquent than anything we could have said at that age.
Gemma’s DIY skills were in full force, and we were in awe of the beautiful decor she put together. The white, black, green, and gold touches gave the venue a chic, modern feel, and we loved capturing those little details—especially her gorgeous, bouncy bouquet, which may have been the most enthusiastic bouquet we’ve ever seen.
Gemma and Sam were such a joy to film, not just because of their love for each other, but because of how much they genuinely enjoy life and just want to have a good time. And let's face it, we live for couples who are up for some fun. These two had so many little moments of pure joy that made us grin the entire time we were editing their film. Seriously, some of these clips should come with a warning: may cause excessive smiling and occasional happy tears.
Huge thanks to James, Bunny Hill’s most prestigious (and humble) coordinator, who made sure everything ran smoothly with a couple of pretty epic dance moves thrown in at the end of the night, too!
And of course, Hog and Apple—you guys truly never disappoint. The food was so good we considered sneaking an extra plate or two. (Don't tell anyone.)
