When a couple chooses a quirky, unique venue like Victoria Baths in Manchester, it’s pretty clear their wedding day is going to be full of fun, personality, and surprises. And that’s exactly what Abi and Lewis’ day turned out to be. With its rich history and jaw-dropping architecture, Victoria Baths set the stage for a wedding that felt as one-of-a-kind as the couple themselves.
We had been looking for an excuse to film at this iconic venue for a while, and we even made a trip there a week before the wedding to capture as much b-roll of the venue as we could. Since we knew the wedding itinerary would be packed, we thought it’d be a good idea to get shots of the architecture and the beautiful interior beforehand. As it turned out, we had so much amazing footage of the wedding itself that we only used a small fraction of our pre-wedding shots in the final film. Hey-ho… maybe we can sell it as stock footage and get that passive income everyone keeps talking about in dodgy YouTube ads. 🤣
Abi and Lewis both prepared for their big day in style, each with their own entourage. The groom and his crew had their own set of surprises for the day – the most memorable being the camper van that arrived to take them to the venue! Meanwhile, Abi had her closest friends and family by her side as she got ready at Native Apartments, just a short taxi ride away from Victoria Baths.
Abi’s dad, Steve, had the first of many emotional moments when he saw her in her dress, but the biggest surprise was yet to come: Lewis’ secret tattoo!
Abi had been trying for years to convince Lewis to join her in the tattoo life – she’s got plenty herself, after all! And finally, on their wedding day, he revealed his new ink: three wavy lines like an ocean on his wrist. It was such a lovely and unexpected surprise for Abi, and the look on her face when she saw it during their portrait session was priceless. That moment gave us some of the sweetest footage we captured all day, and we’re so glad we were there to document it.
At 12:30pm, the ceremony kicked off, and the atmosphere was electric. With Victoria Baths’ stunning architecture surrounding them, Abi and Lewis exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends. After the ceremony, there was a group photo in the iconic ceremony pool (where the confetti cannons went off), and it was a magical moment.
After the confetti settled, guests enjoyed a champagne tower in the Turkish baths, followed by a mix of drinks, mini golf, and some friendly competition with the games provided by Putter Madness. It’s not every day you get to play mini golf in a swimming pool, but that’s the kind of quirky fun Abi and Lewis are all about!
The wedding breakfast was a blast, and we have to say – the table plan was one of the coolest we’ve seen. Each table was named after an iconic Manchester live music venue, such as The Academy, The Ritz, and The Roadhouse. This subtle nod to the couple’s love for music set the tone for what was to come.
The speeches were heartfelt and hilarious. Abi and Lewis took the mic first, with heartfelt words that had everyone in tears – in the best way. After that, the father of the bride, Steve, shared some touching stories, followed by the Best Men, Dillan and Henry. It was the perfect mix of emotion and comedy.
"We are beyond happy with both videos (the teaser + trailer), and would definitely recommend them to anyone! Thank you again guys - we now have amazing memories to last a lifetime!"
The evening kicked off with an unforgettable first dance. Abi and Lewis chose “Thinking of You” by Sister Sledge – a fantastic song that really captured the vibe of the day. The dance floor was packed from the moment the first dance ended, with guests showing off their best moves under the glow of a giant mirrorball.
These two know how to throw a party! From disco to funk to indie rock, the tunes kept the crowd going all night long. And with the dancefloor rammed, it was clear: these are music lovers through and through.
Another personal touch that stood out was the bunting flags. All of their guests had made flags to be displayed throughout the venue, and Abi and Lewis were excited to see the flags in action. They wanted a wedding that was full of fun, personality, and love, and the bunting was a perfect representation of the people in their lives.
Abi and Lewis’ wedding at Victoria Baths was a true reflection of their personalities. It was fun, vibrant, and a perfect mix of relaxed and lively. We were so thrilled to be part of such a special day and capture all of the unforgettable moments. From the surprise tattoos to the mini golf to the epic dance party, it was a day that left everyone with big smiles and fantastic memories.
